PVRs and the new Digital channels 99, 72, and 23
The best Audio Video investment I have ever made was purchasing my Topfield TF5000 Masterpiece Personal Video Recorder (PVR) a couple of years ago. It replaced two VCR's that performed essentaially the same task - recording all the shows I wanted to watch - when I wanted to watch them. The PVR made scheduled weekly recordings a breeze!
Now the opportunity that GO! and Seven2 provide for catching up on some old friends is a sensational to redefine the way advertisers engage with viewers. Forget the old model of blocks of advertisments.
How about sponsoring blocks of shows with short sharp blasts that PVR owners can't Fast-Forward through? Replace Guthy Renker with obscure or niche material that MAY find an audience advertisers would like to reach - and pay for the privilege? ABC - you aren't exempt. What happenned to the re-broadcast of "Stateline" we enjoyed but were deprived of unexpectantly?
Listen up TV Suits. Look for programming to attract an audience and advertisers. ABC - what are you doing with ABC3 after 22:00 until 06:00
Start thinking outside the square! Stop thinking 4:3 and get with 16:9 - WOW - what a concept!
